LINCOLN — President Joe Biden awarded a Medal of Valor on Friday (January 3rd) to the Lincoln Police Department sergeant who jumped into a frigid pond in February 2023 to save a woman from drowning in her car.

Nebraska should be next in banning book bans. We’ve already hitched the Big Red Wagon to other states in lawsuits from voter registration to student loan debt and to federal regulatory authority. Although not a lawsuit, why not join this book club?

SOUTH SIOUX CITY – In a small office, Abdikadir Moalim translates work documents from English to Somali, helping a Tyson employee who needs to take off work to visit her sick mother in Africa.

Tacked to the wall is a poster of the Somali coat of arms – two leopards on either side of the country’s flag. A dry erase board breaking down English vowel sounds is propped against a shelf.
