The region’s leading vertical stair climb, Trek Up the Tower, will return in person on February 18, 2023. Companies and community members will come together to climb the 40 floors of the First National Tower in downtown Omaha on February 18, 2023, and/or they can virtually track their physical activity, from February 18- March 18, 2023.

LINCOLN — Saying Nebraska’s economic future hinges on solving its “housing crisis,” dozens of statewide experts and policymakers have released a plan that calls for 35,000 new affordable dwellings in the state over the next five years.
About a third of those apartments and owner-occupied homes are to be set aside for households making under $22,000 a year, including elderly and special needs residents.

Children’s Hospital and Medical Center is a nonprofit health center that is dedicated to the lives of children. Their goal is to improve the life of every child that comes through their door. They are the only full-service pediatric health center in the entirety of Nebraska. Originally known as Children’s Memorial Hospital, it opened its doors on March 14th, 1948, and has been serving families in Nebraska for over 70 years. They provide primary, urgent, and specialty care for children of all ages.

Founded by Father Edward J. Flanagan on December 12th, 1917, Boys Town has been serving the community’s children for 105 years. Boys Town stands for helping America’s children and families, offering healing on every level for those that need care. The University of Nebraska and Nebraska nonprofit organizations may now submit funding ideas to Women Investing in Nebraska (WIN) for grant awards in 2023. Grants are awarded based on critical needs being addressed, the people the project serves and the impact made on Nebraskans.
Grant seekers must submit an online letter of inquiry by Feb. 15, 2023, at womeninvestinginnebraska.org.

OMAHA, Neb. (Dec. 22, 2022) – Omaha nonprofit AIM Institute hosted an Hour of Code event this past Monday, Dec. 19, at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. More than 900 students participated in coding-related activities to spark creativity and problem-solving skills to prepare students for a rewarding tech career.

OMAHA — SHARE Omaha and SHARE Iowa had a record-breaking year by raising over $4.2 million on their websites for Giving Tuesday.
Local philanthropists created SHARE Omaha to help area nonprofits, primarily in Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders or Washington Counties, fulfill their missions by recruiting donors to share money, material goods and time, according to a news release.
